Don’t Make Me Strings The Swf

January 20th, 2006

AKA, “don’t make me strings the swiff,” AKA “don’t even make me strings the swf” AKA %strings tha.swf.”

Site: I’m a hot-ash site

User: Well lookie here! Ooh! Is that like a virtual jukebox? Wait. Oh no. Is this-

Site: 100% Flash, my friend. Jealous?

User: I’ll overlook your shortcomings while I just… Best. Video. Ever Yes! Let me just forward the URL to my frien-.
Oh no. You did not. You did not just keep the same URL after I clicked 17 buttons and slid 4 slidey things and typed in 2 forms.

Site: I’m a beautiful, aero-dynamic, evolved organism from the future. I need only one page.

User: Le sigh.

Site: What are you doing? You’re denying your friend a beautiful experience!

User: More like: I’m denying my friend carpal tunnel. (ooooh snap!)

Don’t Act Like You Don’t Know: Javalasses

January 4th, 2006

Javalasses.

It’s not about a witchhunt. You’re not viewing source code, sniffin for applets. You’re just doin’ research, minding your own beeswax, surfing the interweb, when suddenly your browser falls to a death grip. You hear your computer check out for a minute.
Javalasses in FULL effect.

You don’t even want to hit the back button, it’s too sticky.

I know: Java has plenty of redeeming things going on. But I’m just saying: Javalasses exists, Javalasses happens, and you will not suffer alone.

Believe that.

I’m One to Talk

January 2nd, 2006

I’m one to talk, but…

The SimpleTicket demo and download were supposed to be available after Christmas. I’ve been looking forward to trying out this open source, web-based trouble-ticket system.

It’s all vaporware at this point, but a feature mentioned on their blog: RSS feeds for tickets.
